The cottage has one queen bedroom, a living room with a dining table big enough to spread out all your materials—plus a kitchenette (which is small) but has all the necessary elements for preparing an easy meal. In addition, you’ll find a portable writing desk, comfy sofa, big screen television—all combined for your comfort and relaxation, as well as a walk-in shower, tub, ceiling fans, and bookcase full of books and puzzles.

You may want to go outside to the screened porch which sits over a free form shaped swimming pool and faces the marsh and river. There, you can write, nap on the hanging bed, enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the sunset; or you can wander out to the dock for a close up view of an array of birds, or sit in a chair marshside and watch the tide rise and fall. If the weather is nice and the water temperature suits you, take a swim or float on a raft and watch the clouds.

There is a wide array of wildlife including deer, raccoons, possums, all manner of birds, and occasionally an otter and some dolphins. You may catch a glimpse of my resident indoor/outdoor cat Moon Pie. Pet him if you like, but don’t let him talk you into coming inside the cottage for a visit, he can be very convincing.

Hunting Island State Park is about fifteen minutes away and you can be downtown in Beaufort in ten minutes.

Relax, unwind, rest and recharge - and then go exploring!
